Captain's Page & Charity
Men's Captain 2008I am looking forward to my second term in office having been captain in1991. The course at East Brighton has improved enormously over the past few years and it is now regarded as one of the very best courses in Sussex. The members can enjoy golf all year round and because the light winds can change from day to day it is akin to playing on many different courses. We have a great bunch of members who enjoy golf. Visitors are always welcome at the club so for those who have never played the course you do not know what you are missing. Even if your golf is under par (i.e.you are playing indifferently!!) there are the beautiful views to admire and the lovely fresh air to inhale – so intoxicate yourself with a round at East Brighton. Our two main charities this year are Leo House and Chailey Heritage, so please support as many different charitable events as possible. I hope all members have an enjoyable year of golfing and social activities and remember golf is only a game – but a great one! Phil Ticehurst Ladies' Captain 2008Welcome to the Ladies section of East Brighton Golf Club. We have a thriving golf and social scene. Our ladies day is on Tuesdays and enjoy various formats of competitions. We welcome business ladies who have the opportunity to play their competitions at weekends. There is also the opportunity of playing mixed events within the club and against other local clubs in the area. In addition to the two charities above, I will also be supporting: the Samantha Dickson Brain Tumor Trust. The Trust was set up by Neil and Angela Dickson who lost their only daughter, Samantha to a brain tumor in 1996. The Samantha Dickson Brain Tumor Trust exists to find a cure for childhood and adult brain tumors through funding research. We also offer support, hope and information to patients and their carers. Over the years research has had an enormous impact on other cancers like leukemia and breast and it is the Charity's goal to emulate the improvements in survival and treatment these diseases have seen in the last few years.
