“Just over ten years ago, I had a few golf lessons – but never took the game any further because I didn’t know anyone else who played.
That all changed when I joined a golf taster session at East Brighton in January 2025. Everyone was so welcoming and encouraging, and it was such a relief to realise we were all in the same boat – complete beginners!
The coaching was excellent. James guided us through every aspect of the game – from which clubs to use and when, to the rules and etiquette. He’s incredibly patient and has a great way of explaining things that makes it all click. Having both the indoor studio and putting green to practice on was really useful, and finishing the day with a few holes out on the course brought it all together perfectly.
Since joining Women in Golf (WIG), I’ve made wonderful friends I’d never have met otherwise. We play as much as possible, and I really value that time – it’s fun, social, and always uplifting.
Joining the club through the WIG membership scheme gave me the confidence to play regularly. Thanks to Holly’s amazing organisation and Dawn’s ongoing support and encouragement, I quickly felt part of the group. Within a few months, I was playing in both competitions and friendly matches. It’s been a fantastic way to meet other members!
East Brighton Golf Club has such a warm, inclusive atmosphere – not just the members, but the staff too: from the office and catering team to the greenkeepers and the Pro Shop.
